This beautiful tiny set of 10 Tibetan prayer flags, each measuring 2.7x3.3 inches and in five colors features the image of Medicine Buddha, the Lord of Lapis Lazuli Light, imprinted in black ink.
The Medicine Buddha or Sangyé Menla or The Radiant Lapis Lazuli King is a popular deity in Mahayana Buddhism who is believed to have the power to heal physical and mental ailments. He is considered to be an emanation of the primordial Buddha, and his healing powers are said to come from his limitless compassion and wisdom.
The Medicine Buddha is typically depicted with a blue-colored body, holding a medicine bowl in his left hand filled with healing nectar and a plant or a sprig of leaves from the myrobalan tree, a medicinal plant, in his right hand.
According to Buddhist texts, the Medicine Buddha made twelve vows to help beings, including to heal all those who are sick, to alleviate the suffering of those in poverty, and to help those in fear. Recitation of his mantra, "Tayata Om Bekandze Bekandze Maha Bekandze Radza Samudgate Soha," is believed to bring healing benefits.
The Medicine Buddha is often depicted in Tibetan thangka paintings, and his image is widely used in Buddhist medicine practices, including meditation, visualization, and ritual ceremonies. He is also considered a spiritual guide who helps his devotees in their spiritual path to enlightenment.
Prayer flags are traditionally hung outside, under eaves of houses, in trees, between buildings, hills, or across rivers but can also be hung inside. Our prayer flags are wonderful for purification of the environment and for uplifting the minds of all beings. Hang them everywhere.
